UPNEEQ® is the first and only FDA-approved eye drop that improves acquired ptosis (droopy eyelids caused by aging). The once daily eyedrop temporarily lifts the muscle of the upper eyelid, causing the eyes to open wider. This results in younger-looking eyes and an overall more rejuvenated appearance. If you have droopy eyelids BEAUTIFY Medical Spa in Lexington and Sumter might be able to help!

WHAT IS PTOSIS?

Ptosis is the medical term for droopy eyelids. Ptosis may be caused by your genes (congenital ptosis), aging (acquired ptosis), or caused by other issues such as:

  • Surgery (like cataract surgery or LASIK)

  • Eye injuries

  • Wearing contact lenses

  • Migrating Botox

  • Other medical conditions

Millions of people suffer from even a small amount of acquired ptosis. The skin loses elasticity as the skin gets older. Elasticity is the ability of the skin to bounce back into place when stretched. Loss of elasticity and the constant pull of gravity causes the upper eyelid to droop down over the eye as you age. Acquired ptosis is primarily a cosmetic concern. Also, drooping eyelids can also impair vision over time.

HOW DOES UPNEEQ WORK?

- Upneeq is a prescription eyedrop so you have to get it from a medical provider. One eye drop is inserted into each eye once a day at home, you don't need to come to the clinic for your eye drops.

- Upneeq has 0.1% oxymetazoline hydrochloride ophthalmic solution as one of it's ingredients. Oxymetazoline is found in other medications, like nasal decongestant sprays so many people have already used it. With Upneeq, oxymetazoline causes the upper eyelid muscle to lift through tightening the muscle.

- Upneeq’s lifting effect is temporary so you don't have to use it all of the time. A lift of the eyelid is usually seen within 15 minutes of application. Results can last up to 8 hours.
