What to expect when getting lip filler

Be aware: lips may look overfilled at the beginning

Injecting into the lips can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. Most of the time the care provider will put a numbing substance in the filler to relieve pain. Patients are usually able to go back to a normal day to day basis after the procedure.

  • More short-term side effects after lip injections:

  • Swelling and bruising

  • Pain or tenderness

  • Numbness

  • Itching

  • Lumpiness

Helpful tips

  • Put an ice pack gently on the lips

    • All of them should be gone within a few days

    • If anything continues contact your doctor

Lip injection should last from several months to a year. It all varies on what type of filler is used. After a period of time, your body will engross the filler so therefore lip injections will need to be repeated, maintaining effect.

Hopefully, lip injections will make you look different. Lips will be fuller and plumper. Always make sure you are doing it for the right reasons! Do it for your own benefit and not to please someone else.
