BOTOX/DYSPORT
BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport are indicated to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines associated with corrugator and/or procerus muscle activity in adult patients less than or equal to 65 years of age.
BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport for injection, are sterile, vacuum-dried purified botulinum toxin type A, produced from fermentation of Hall Strain Clostridium botulinum type A grown in a medium containing casein hydrolysate, glucose, and yeast extract, intended for intramuscular use. BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport both block neuromuscular transmission by binding to acceptor sites on motor nerve terminals, entering the nerve terminals, and inhibiting the release of acetylcholine from vesicles situated within nerve endings which relaxes muscles.
The administration of BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport is not recommended during pregnancy. It is not known if this drug is excreted in human milk. Because many drugs are excreted in human milk, caution should be exercised when BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport are administered to a woman who is nursing.

Side effects of Botox/Dysport:
Botox and Dysport have been around many years for cosmetic use and has been found to be very safe and even used to treat medical issues in children for non cosmetic use. When administered properly, Botox side effects are very rare. There are some side effects from the needle like injection pain, bruising, and swelling and these resolve quickly. The only problems with Botox occur when it drifts away from where it was originally injected. This can cause the Botox side effect of a droopy eyelid or uneven eyebrow where the botox has spread. The good thing is that this side effect is temporary and will resolve on its own in a few weeks.
